Workshop invitation
Moving while doing, nomadic artistic perceptions in socio-environmental transitory times. Wednesday 8th March 2017 at 11:30am. Meeting point: Hardiman Building, NUI Galway (ground floor, next to the entrance of the library) Duration: 2 hours aprox. The relationship between human beings and the notion of place is changing constantly; we are always in "natural" transition. Therefore observing, experiencing, analising and acting in the limits between the visible and the "invisible" while addressing socio-environmental (contemporary) concerns become relevant. I would like to invite you to this experimental creative workshop as part of the project: Moving while doing, nomadic artistic perceptions in socio-environmental transitory times. This collective activity aims to be an experimental form of work - like moving-while-doing - as an attempt to unleash new forms of creativity and offer a different way to experience the city of Galway. The workshop will follow a number of methods (drawn from different fields of study) transformed in artistic experiments exploring the notion of "embracing place" while walking; Embodied artistic experiences (touching, hearing, looking, observing, exploring, analising) to explore the city. We will use drawing, participatory research, creative mapping (data collection), etc. while in movement to understand limits between place-identity, visible-invisible, the "natural", the in-between, etc. from ourselves (our senses) to our "container" (the city). *Natural (Some concept synonyms): normal, common, essential, innate, instinct, legitimate, ordinary, reasonable, usual, familiar, native, constant, regular, general, etc. Participant’s interests and experiences will shape this workshop. It aims to be a creative exchange for active engagement with the city. Weather conditions will be taken in account but not necessarily an issue. Materials: some paper and pencil/pen, any sound, video or photo equipment will be desirable but not required (smartphones can also be an option). If you are interested in participating please email: [email protected] Maximum nº participants 10. Free participation. Please send an email addressing why you would like to participate. Deadline 7th March. Thanks for reading, Seila
