“Ephemeros” is a project exhibition that will consist of works that live on borrowed time. The artworks will only last for a few hours, then, depending on their nature will fade, melt, disappear or change form. The exhibition will last for only one evening.
The transient, the in-between and temporality of those works will generate a complex dialogue of relationships between them and the audience. A natural erosion where nothing is stable, where nothing remains to the future, never completed pieces but processes that are being created to disappear. A metamorphosis in which, the conceptual meaning of the art piece gets enforced by its transformation. This event aims to portray time and its consciousness by using art. The word ephemeral comes from Greek εφήμερος –ephemeros, literally "lasting only one day". The only possible experience of this event is by taking part in it, and then the audience becomes performers of this happening too. This project is open for proposals that respond to this brief. If your work aims to explore this theme at this stage of your practice, please send your proposal to [email protected]. This event-exhibition will be taking place in Bristol in May.
