Home, 2012

This piece represents a water well made with bricks and cement as a metaphor for a political situation - my situation in fact, as a Spanish person feeling exiled as a result of the Spanish property bubble. The building materials used in this piece relate symbolically to this theme.

A well represents security, as water is vital to prosperity and survival. This well contains a submerged photograph, and a sound emanates from deep in its interior, creating echoes that inundate the gallery space. Memories and expectations for the future collide here; nothing is stable or tangible.
