Co-creating Remedies. Collective Art for a Shared Present

Workshop leader: Seila Fernández Arconada
November 2022, Logos Space and
Wiktor Dega primary school nr 78 Poznan (Poland),

Remedies are forms of healing, forms of being with each other. This collective art journey enabled us to explore emotions though artistic tools aiming to create an inclusive and peaceful atmosphere. During the time together we experimented with different art techniques including storytelling, sound creation and drawing, where participants from various backgrounds were invited to collaborate mostly Ukrainian refugees and local Polish people.

The methodological strategy from the workshop leader was to enhance care at various levels.  The process focused on tackling emotions such as fear when being out of the confort zone, also the generation of a collective safe and trustable space between unknown people and how to expand creativity by being more aware of the senses among other important challenges that were arising from the collective experience.

The individual and collective exchange was the most important focus. Then, the proposed artistic experiments became the experiencial space that led participants thougthout the shared space. This workshop is a direct response to this project, Co-Creating Remedies in itself has been based in an in depth research about art for recovery and resilience in conflict zones and natural disaster affected territories, art therapy, socially engaged art practice, among other aspects.
